headed over to Sacha's at about 5:30pm after getting an invite to watch the fireworks competition in wherever it was. really bad traffic made Kathy reconsider driving out so plans changed to staying in.

apparently, I was the only one among the people Sacha texted that was free. we talked a bit, watched as Kathy gave Ollie a bath and started a game of Surfing Edition Monopoly. in the middle of the game, we heard some commotion going on outside but decided to ignore it. shortly after, Tita Harvey came into the room and told us to get out of the house because there was a fire nearby. Lucas, Patch and Peko were rounded up and brought outside. as soon as we got outside the gate, I took a look around to see just where the fire was.

it was two houses to the right. and it was big.



Tita Harvey was quite agitated. Kathy, true to form, wasn't fazed in the least. Sacha was... rather chipper. I just couldn't believe what was happening.

I got separated from them when we drove off to a safer location but found them not long after out of blind luck. Kathy had gone back to meet up with their dad and help out however she could. listening to how Sach and I were talking, though, you'd think nothing potentially disasterous might have been going on.

we talked about how Ollie would get covered in soot after just being given a bath. about how, if more of the JGL were there, someone would've thought to take the Monopoly board along. about how the cats would've probably felt slighted that they were left behind while the dogs and bird were brought along. about how this turn of events would be great to blog about. about the irony of getting front row seats to a fire show after deciding not to watch a fireworks competition.

Adphoto was in the clear about an hour or so later, escaping unscathed save for a mild toasting on one of their walls. Kathy came back to the car with Krissette and Hrbz and then we all headed off for one of Tita Harvey's nearby friend's. kept Sach company for a while after Kathy went home.

interesting way to end a year.
